Icons are used to visually communicate actions and information. They can act as way-finding tools, hints that an action can be done, or reinforce text content.

WSDOT public site uses a combination of Material Design, Font Awesome, and custom icons.

Material Design

Material Design is the foundation of the iconography and should be looked to first for any icon needs.

Font Awesome

Some standard icons don't exist in Material Design and icons from Font Awesome can fill in those gaps. Many of those are social media icons (as seen below).
